Stir-fried Beef with Basil and Chilies

We are always looking for tasty new stir-fry recipes, and we had some fresh basil on hand. So, when Mark Bittman appeared recently on the Today show, we latched on to his recipe for stir-fry beef with basil. The recipe appears here.

We modified the marinade to include one tablespoon soy sauce and increased the oil to one tablespoon as well. Additionally, we stir-fried some coarsely chopped red onion and yellow and green bell pepper, then removed those vegetables from the wok before proceeding with stir-frying the beef as the recipe called for. We also agreed we would use more basil when making this recipe the next time.

This recipe is quick to prepare and cook. If pressed for time, you can even eliminate the marinade. Whether you use our modifications or not, the flavor is excellent!
