Montalcino Chicken with Figs and Buttered Gnocchi with Pancetta and Nutmeg

We made this excellent chicken recipe for Sunday night dinner. This dish was featured by Rachael Ray and can be linked here. She claims she serves this recipe for her husband on their anniversary every year in memory of the city of Montalcino where they were married.

We substituted bacon for the pancetta and thought the results were good. Rosso di Montalcino wine is not expensive, and is a good red cooking wine for other dishes, too. We got ours at Byerlys.
